REGENT THEATRE.
"THE DEVIL'S LOTTERY."
If intended as propaganda against gambbn^ r , "Tho Devil's Lottery," now showing at the I'egent Theatre, is not violently or obtrusively to. Tho story is concerned with tho reactions of various types to tho acquisition of great and sudden wealth as tho result, of holding winning tickets in the world-famous Calcutta sweep. Klissa Landi stands out prominently as a somewhat tarnished social beauty, lier presentation of tho character being natural Bnd unaffected. Victor Md.aglen, as the pugilist, Ralph Morgan, us the semi-paralysed victim of tho war. Alexander Kirklaml and Barbara Weeks, as the young lovers, Paul Cavanagh as the suave villain, Beryl Mercer as the pugilist's mother, and Herbert Mumlin as a man .servant, are all happily cast. A noteworthy featuro is the race for the English Derby, and. generally, the settings arc lavish.
