Mr Justice Adams, who will preside at the sittings of the Supreme Court at Wostport to-morrow, arrived yesterday from Christchurch, and proecedod to Westport to-day, accompanied by his associate, Mr W. R. Teape. Mrs K. O'BrienMeft to-day for Wellington, where she will represent the Grey Hospital Board at the Hospital Boards' conference. Mr W. J. Travis (Christchurch) is visiting the West Coast. Mrs M. Wobdley, accompanied by her . brother, Mr D. Lewis, left to-day on a holiday visit to Christchurch. Mrs B. O'Brien (Hanmer) is visiting relatives at Stockton. Miss I. M. Watson, who has been i spending a holiday in Greymouth, returned to-day to Ashburton. Obituary. The death occurred yesterday, at Kumara, of Mr Frank Noame, a Wellknown resident of the district, aged 76. Mr Noame, who was a native of Nelson, is survived by his widow, eight -sons, and sis daughters. Magistrate's Court. A sitting of the Greymouth Magistrate's Court was held yesterday. Mr

W. Meldrum, S.M., presided. John Joseph Devonport pleaded guilty to having mutilated a copy of a newspaper in the Municipal Library by cutting an excerpt out of it. He was convicted and ordered to pay costs, 10s. For creating a disturbance on the Rewanui-Greymouth train on May 21st, Ray Henderson, whojlid not appear, was convicted and fined 10s, with costs 13s, and witnesses' expenses 2s 6d. For driving a motor-car in a manner dangerous to public safety at Rapahoc, thereby injuring a pedestrian, R. Spiers was" fined £5, with.costs £1 Is, and witnesses' expenses £1 lis 9d. Rifle Shooting.

Tho Brunnerton Rifle Club held its final shoot of tho season on Friday, when, in a three-range match, Eifleman Nimmo was top scorer with 95. Eiflem«n F. Williams and T. Morgan were next with 93 each. After the match the president, Mr T. Morgan, presented Eifleflmen Nimmo and Williams with silver cups. Coursing. In favourable weather, the Grey District Coursing Club held a Plumpton at Wingaam Park. The attendance was not large, but some good coursing was witnessed. The dags were in Bplendid condition, and numbers of -he tests lasted several minutes, the hares eventually beating tho dogs. The Dr. G. XV. Meade Cup was won by I. MeVicar's Mossvale, the runner-up, Blowing Bubbles, being the property 6f the same owner. Grey Hydro Works. Good progress has been made at the Grey Power Board's hydro works at Kaimata by the contractor. The laßl section of the dam in the Arnold rivei has been completed. As soon as some cleaning up has been done, a trial rui will be given the machinery, when anj adjustments necessary will be made. II is expocted that the water will bo avail able for running tho plant on Mondaj next.

luter-Club Delates. Last evening Trinity and United m Clubs held nn inter-club debate. In the I senior section, which.was judged by the K Bev. H. B. Pell, the subject was "That Mochaniatic Civilisation is BeneScial to Mankind." The verdict went, to United, who scored a total of 259 points to Trinity's 252. In the junior Beetion, judged by Mr M. Daly, Trinity prevailed by 366 to 364 points. The subject for the junior debate was "Are Public Lotteries to the Advantage of the Community!"
