Kamfall to date ... .. 6.68 in 5.08 in Auckland—After heavy rain in the early morning: the weather cleared, and the greater part of the day was fine, with a light northerly wind. The barometer was steady in the afternoon at 30.10. "Wellington—The wind veered to the south during Wednesday night, and the weather yesterday was wet and cold. Dunedin—The weather was beautifully fine yesterday morning, but dull and mild in the afternoon. There was a light breeze from the north-east. The barometer was fairly steady at 30.20. Forecast. General Situation—A cyclone still' remains centred near Cape Maria van Diemen, while pressure is high over south-eastern Australia and about Chatham Island. Winds—North-easterly at firßfc in Auckland province, but otherwise south to south-east prevailing; strong generally north of Farewell Spit and Kaikoura, and reaching gale force in places; elsewhere mainly moderate
Seas (N.Z. waters) —Rough north of Farewell Spit and Kaikoura, elsewhere moderate. Eastorn Tasraan Sea—Strong south-easterly winds and rough seas. Weather —Mainly fair in Westland and south of Canterbury, elsewhere unsettled, with further rain and some heavy falls; snow is still likely on the ranges, and fog on parts of the East Coast. .' j DOMINION REPORTS.
