UPPER RICCARTON.
■ t QUESTION OF FIRE PROTECTION lteprescntatives from the Upper Riccartou Burgesses' Association having interviewed Superintendent C. 0. Warner, of the Christchurch Fire Brigade, regarding the provision of fire protection for the district, Superintendent Warner reported to the Fire Board at its meeting last night that he had suggested the following:— One 30 to 35 gallon copper chemical fire extinguisher, with fittings, including galvanised hose-carrier, 180 ft of new 4-ply |-inch rubber hose, and branchpipe complete, and ready lor mounting on a motor vehicle to be provided by the residents. The cost, without motor, would be £4O. This appliance would bo found very -useful for dealing with small fires in dwellings and shops, particularly bo in view of the fact that it is intended to organise a small volunteer fire brigade in the district, and I have assured them that every assistance will be given by the Board's officers in their undertaking. The Board received the report.
