The following were dealt with for traffic offences: — • • For driving after his license had been cancelled, Alan Hickenbotham was fined £lO and costs. Driving at a Dangerous Speed—Dr. Hazel Allison, 20s and costs; George James Peek, costs only; Courtney Mill Suckling, 20s and costs; Algernon M. Borthwick, £3 and costs; Richard B. Bateman, £2 and costs; Archibald D. Clarke, £2 and costs; Georgo K. Walshaw, £3 and costs; Lawrence E. Whitlow, £1 and costs; Sehvyn J. Robinson, £2 and costs. Overtaking a Vehicle on an Intersection— G. E. Howard, 5s and costs. Driving in a Dangerous Manner —James Grieve, 10s and costs; Antonio Frank Leonardo, 10s and costs. Driving Without a License—Allan Cadman, 10s r.nd costs; Albert Naisbitt, 5s and costs; James Wallace Flynn, 10s and coßts; Allan Hall, costs only. Hall was also fined 5s and costs for failing to comply with a traffic signal. Noisy Exhausts—Charles Kenneth Watson, 20s mid costs; Keith Brown, 20s and cos s. For using wrong number-plates, Brown was fined 5s without costs. Driving Without a Rear Vision Mirror — ITc-nry Baker, 5s and costs; Arthur Morgan Gudscll, costs only; Henry Thomas Moore, 6s and costs. Overloading a Lorry—Ashburton Transport Co., £4 and costs; \V. F. Bell and Son, £2 and costs. Permitting the Use of Unlicensed Heavy Traffic Motor-Lorries —Robert Andrew Dixon, Gs and costs; Economic Express Co., £2 and costs; John Thomas Gallagher, £2 and costs; Frederick Park, 10s and costs; Jack A. Read, 20s and costs; Leonard A. Truman, costs only. For having inefficient brakes attached, Truman was fined 20s and coatß. Failing to Give Way—Frank Huston Musgrove, £1 and costs. Parking Over Time Limit—Charles S. Forbes, 10s and eoßts. Riding a Birycle on tho Wrong Rido of tho Road—Joseph Boye, 10s and costs. Cycling Without a Light—Jack Ellis, 5s and costs; Francis Le Comte, 5s without costs. Tho latter was fined 10s and routs for giving a false name and address to a con- ! Btabln. Cycling on Footpath—Leslie Barrio, Derrick Doake, Edward Dowlo, Eric Hann, Ernest Hnllobon. James Kennedy, Henry Ray, Mitchell Ridland, and Lester Wilßon were oaeh fined 5s and costs for cycling on tho footpath across Latimer square. TRANSPORT LICENSING CASE. The Inter-City Motor .Service, Ltd., was charged with unlawfully carrying on a motoromnibus service under tho new Transport Act. Counsel for the defence said that the Inter-City Motor Service Company had appealed against, the finding of tho licensing authority, acting under the Transport Licensing Act. Since tho appeal had been lodged they had been carrying on under the old license. Tho City Council maintained that this was illegal. The company had experienced a lot of trouble in obtaining its original license, and had won all its cases against the Tramway Board. Members of tho Metropolitan Licensing Board were blso members of the Tramway Board and the By-laws Committee of the City Council which instituted proceedings such as these. This was the only prosecution in New Zealand which had been brought before the appeal had been heard. Counsel asked for an adjournment until after I the derision of the Appeal Board. This was I opposed by counsel for the City Council. j The Magistrate adjourned tbo case. i MAINTENANCE COURT. i (Before Mr n. P. LBwry, 8.M.) ! The following wero dealt with for breacheg j of maintenance orders: — William Percy Jarden was sentenced to seven days' imprisonment, issue of warrant to be suspended provided arrears are paid off at the rate of Is a week in addition to ] the amount of current order. Ethel Jansen was sentenced to one month's imprisonment, issue of warrant to be suspended provided arrears are paid off at the rate of 2s 6d a week in addition to the amount of the current order. Frank William Garrett wai sentenced to one month's imprisonment, issue of warrant to be suspended provided arrears »ro paid off nt the rate of 7a 8d a week in addition to the amount of the current order. William Fred Stokee was ordered to come up for gontence if called upon within six months. Arthur Roy Brewer wag sentenced to one month's imprisonment, issue of warrant to be suspended provided 15b a week is paid on account of the current order. Oliver Joggers was convicted and fined £1 and costs. (Before Mr H. A. Young, 8.M.) Separation and guardianship orders were made against Thomas Henry Burnett, maintenance being fixed at 15a a week.
