WOMAN'S DEATH.
FINDING AT INQUEST. Mrs Alice Ella James, of Amberley; a} married woman, 32 years of ttga,' died at Brockleliurst Private Hospital at Rangiora on Saturday, while undergoing an operation. At an inquest held by My E. D. Mosley, S.M., Coroner, on Saturday afternoon, the medical evidenco showed that death was due to shock and haemorrhage, and a verdict was returned accordingly. Evidence of/ identification was given by, Edward William James, , Mrs James' husband, wlio said she had complained of feeling ill for the past three months. So far as witness knew, she had been quito healthy during tho past six years. Dr. T. A. Will said that during the operation, which examinations showed was necessary, hemorrhage became very brisk, and everything possible was done to stop it. Dr. King, who administered tho anaesthetic, gave warning that the patient was collapsing, and everything was 'Stopped except efforts to revive her, which were unsuccessful. In the opinion of witness, the cause of death was shock and haemorrhage, and the anaesthetic had nothing to do with it. The risk in tho particular operation was great. r - M. King said lie induced aniesthesia after examining the heart, which appeared normal. As the operation proceeded the patient showed evidence of loss of blood, but her condition was not alarming. Signs of collapse appeared near the termination .of the operation, and measures of restorttwore a PPlied, but without success.
