PROGRESS OF TRIAL. (united tress association —by elicteic TE!,KGR.\PII—COPYRIGHT.) (Received April loth, 5.5 p.m.) HONOLULU. April 14. Lieutenant T. H. Massie, giving evidence in his own defence, told tho story of the outrage upon his wile last autumn, of which the murdered man (Joe Kahahawai) was suspected. Mr Clarence Darrow (for the defence) announced that he would raise the question of sanity. This is believed to indicate that Lieutenant Massie will admit killing Kahahawai, but will plead extenuating circumstances, and temporary insanitv. Lieutenant Massio sobbed as ho gave his evidence, and Mrs Granville 1* ortescue wept.
