HOCKEY.

BEDCLIFFS CLUB.

The fifth annual meeting of the Redcliffs Hockey Club was held on Wednesday evening:, Mr H. \y. Rogers presiding over a large attendance of members. The annual report and balance-sheet proved that the club had experienced a successful season both financially and on the Held although none of the three teams entered in the Canterbury Hockey Association's competitions had been successful in winning their respective grade trophies. The statement of accounts disclosed that although there had been a loss on the year's workings mainly due to non-payment of members subscriptions, the club still had a cash balance of £6 Os lOd. The assets were set down at £l4 Os lOd in excess of liabilities. In moving the adoption of the report and balance-sheet, the chairman stressed the need for economy in dealing with the club's finances .in order that assistance could be given to members who were suffering from the depression. Thompson, and A. Grafton; Selection Committee, Messrs L. Sutherland, J. Ainger, and H. Le Page. The secretary was instructed to apply for a ground at Linwood Park. The opening day was fixed for April 2nd. In order to assist members who had suffered hardship through unemployment, the committee were given power to consider any case of hardship, and to remit a portion of any member's subscription, dealing with each case on its merits. It was decided to place on record appreciation of the work of the retiring secretary, Mr A. Grafton. WESLEY CLUB. The annual meeting of the Wesley Hockey Club was held on Wednesday, Mr H. W. Armitnge presiding over a fair attendance of members. The secretary, in presenting the annual report and balance-sheet,. stated that the club had second and third grade teams in the competitions, the latter being fairly well up, and also being in the final for'the five-a-side tournament. This year the club intended to enter fourth and fifth grade teams. It was decided to hold the first club practice on April 2nd, and the official opening day on April 9th. Officers were elected as follows: Patron, the Rev. E. B. Chambers; president, Mr H. W. Armitage; vice-presidents, the Rev. E. W. Hames. Messrs W. L. Thomas, W. Simpson, G. J. Woodham, K. Balchin, A. Holden, and S. Taylor; club captain, Mr P. Billcliffe; secretary, Mr H. Adams; treasurer, Mr N. Queree: additional members fcf executive. Messrs T. Glackin, K. Dingwall, and J. Allison; delegates to Canterbury Hockey Association, Messrs H. Adams and P. Billcliffe. HORNBY WOMEN'S CLUB. The second annual meeting of the Hornby Women's Hockey Club was held in the Islington Hall, when the president, Mrs P. H. Thomson, presided over a large attendance of iqerabprs. • The annual roport showed that the season had been a successful one, both teams finish-i'-'.g in good positions in. the competitions.
