A collision between a and a motor-car on the road in front of the Arowhenua Hotel, on New Year's Day, was the subject of a claim and counter-claim by the respective drivers. Benjamin James Eodgers . sought to recover from Walter M. Hulston, £4 damages to his lorry and Hulston counter-claimed £ls for damages to Iris car. * Judgment was given for llodgcrs on the claim and also on the counter-claim. Naval Concert. An excellent entertainment was provided by the sports committee of H.M.S. Veronica at a concert in the Caroline Bay Hall on Tuesday evening. Commander H. L. A meeting of representative women's organisations irf Timaru en Tuesday discussed the question of unemployment of "women and girls. Miss J. R. Barr presided. It was decided to tfompile a register of unemployed women and girls, registration commencing last evening in the W.E.A. Rooms, which were loaned for the purpose. A discussion then took place on the'desirability of approaching the Minister for Labour in regard to a better distribution of unemployment funds, on the grounds that working women were contributors to the Unemployment Fund. geraldine. Mr Cliff Inues and Miss Ida Junes (Sheffield) and the Misses B. and J. Foster (Stratford) are the guests ot Mrs L. Mitchell, Raukapuka.
