CONFERENCE ON REPARATIONS.

OFFICIAL ANNOUNCEMENT. (BRITISH OFFICIAL WIRELESS.) RUGBY, February 11. The following statement was issued by tlie Foreign Office to-day : As a consequence cC the adjournment of the Conference of Lausanne, which had been planned for last January, the Governments of the United Kingdom and Franco have been engaged in a discussion of the conditions in which the conference might meet. As the result of this exchange of views the basis of an agreement was reached between the two Governments. Sir John Simon (Secretary of State for loieign Affairs) was requested to communicate I with the Governments principally interested, and it is now possible to make the following announcement:— The Governments of Belgium. France, Germany. Italy, Japan, and the United Kingdom, alter having taken note of the Baslo experts' report, agreed to recommend to the other Governments concerned the adjournment of tlie Lausanne Conference to the month of June. 'I he object of the conference will bo to agree on a lasting settlement of tlie question raised in the report of the Basle experts and on those necessary to solve tlie otl l® economic and which are responsible for, and mtxy prolong, the present world-wide crisis. Tli°s decision has been reached by the aW Governments m the hope t at it will ease tlis international situati°n.
