THE BOAT RACE.

Oxford University's prospective crew for tlio boat race go into residence on Thursday, and will be under the charge ot Colonel J. H. Gibbon, the old Cambridge stroke,, who will be the only coach. Pritchard (Clifton and Exeter) (cox) 8 5 *old Blues. Lascelles, who was head prefect of Christ's College, has had considerable experience on the tideway with tho London llowing Club. He i s reported to be a strong candiate for No. 'J. Lascelles was awarded a grant of £250 a year for tbreo years by the Rhodes Trustees to enable him to study at Oxford. The grant was made as a mark of appreciation of the services rendered by his lather, Lieut.-Colonel Edward IT. Lascelles, C.8.E., in connexion with the Overseas Sailor and •Soldier Scholarship Fimd. The crow will remain at Oxford till the end of February and will then go to Henley, probably for only a short period, finishing with a fortnight on tho tideway for their final preparations for the race, which will be rowed on Saturday, March 19th.
