SUMNER CLUB. Mr S. K. Bassett presided over a meeting of the executive of the Sumner Life-Saving Club, -held last evening, when there were present Messrs L. Sutherland, !<'. Clark, C. H. McPhaii, S. G. Henry, D. M. Richardson, J. M. Mitchell, and O. G. Wood. New members were elected as follows: IS. I>. Cooper, J. Blackmore, M. Cooper, N. J .B. Sarelius, L.-M. Xutt. J. Darroch, 11. S. Drummond. Miss K. Drummond. F. J. Pender, Miss \VE. Heapliy, and Miss Doreen BradleyA letter was received from the Canterbury Centre of the tfova! Life-Sav-ing Society setting out arrangements for the Dominion Surf Championship. Mr L. Sutherland said that the water work for the William Henry Memorial should be done at 1.30 p.m., instead oi doing the resuscitation as is now arranged. lie pointed out that unless this were done the teams entering the water late would be doing so on a falling tide, with a consequent very definite advantage, as after high tide there was a drop of 30 yards per hour. lie moved as a recommendation to the officials that the water work i" tlic William Honry Memorial fce started at 1.30 p.m. and the resuscitation be taken afterwards. A letter was received from the St. Clair Club accepting the club's offer to billet their members during their visit to the Dominion Surf Championships. Mr O. G. Wood moved that an annual fixture be arranged between the two clubs to be held alternately on the respective beaches. It was decided to have a conference between the two clubs to make the necessary arrangements. It was decided to retain the services of the beach patrol (Mr L. Sutherland) for a further -week. Arrangements for the Dominion Surf Championships, to be held next Saturday, were discussed. It was decided to obtain two buoys. With reference to the club competitions, a sub-oommitte« of tha> thre<selectors was appointed to arrange t!i. clntes.
