CUBAN EARTHQUAKE.
DEATH-ROLL NOT HEAVY. (UNITED PRESS ABBOCIATIOK —Bl ELEOTSIO TBLSGB^pa—COBTBIGHT,) SANTIAGO (Cuba), February 3. Early estimates of the earthquake casualties were found to be high witji the issue of an official announcement that pix are dead and 30 injured. Property damage is extensive, few buildings escaping. The gaol walls fell in, and the inmates escaped, Apparently the greatest damage was done in the business section, The frighteJ|3d people packed enough food to last while they went into the open country. It is believed that conditions will be normal in a few days. The Mayor of Santiago reported earlier to-day that eight were killed and 800 injured in last nights earthquake. Ho has ordered the ga« and electricity services to be cut off to avoid fires. There was a series of nine earth shocks between midnight and dawn on Wednesday.

(Received February 4th, 7.10 p.m.) SANTIAGO, February 3. The earthquake damage to the eity is estimated at more than 10,000,000 dollars by Governor Barcelo. The public buildings alone were damaged to the extent of 3,000,000 dollars. The city was practically deserted on Wednesday night, when the people fled to the outlying districts, fearing a recurrence of the shocks. At Havana the Cuban House of Representatives voted 1,000,000 dollars for emergency relief.
