INFANTILE PARALYSIS.
OVER THIRTY CASES IN SYDNEY. (Received December '-'3rd, 9.10 p.m.) SYDNEY, December 23. No increase in the number of cases of infantile paralysis was reported by tho Department of Health to-day. Over thirty cases are stfll being treated. There have been no fatalities thus far. FATAL CASE IN BRISBANE. (Received December 23rd, 11.5 p.m.) BRISBANE, December 23. A boy, 14 years of age, died of infantile paralysis. FRIENDLY SOCIETIES. LIMITATION OF STATE SUBSIDIES. SYDNEY, December 23. Tho limitation of subvention payments to friendly societies to £50,000 a year evoked heated protests from Opposition members in the Assembly. A Bill giving effect to the limitations'was passed. The payments last yoar totalled £77,433. NEW BUILDINGS. DECREASE IN SYDNEY EXPENDITURE. (Received December 23rd, 11.5 p.m.) SYDNEY, December 23. ! Expenditure on new buildings in the Metropolitan area decreased from £9,201,000 in 1930 to £1,792,000 this year. TWO BOYS KILLED. j - APPARENTLY CUT DOWN BY TRAIN. SYDNEY, December 23. Two boys, Eric Campbell, aged 15, and Michael Falkiner, aged 15, were killed, and Arthur Fayers, aged 16, i& in a critical condition, having been found at tho Burwood railway station lying on tho rails. How the accident occurred is a mystery, but it is believed the lads were crossing from one platform to another when they were run down by a fast train.
