FIGURES FOR 1930-31. DECREASE IN PUBLIC DEBT. The publication of the reports of the officers of the Christchurch City Council, which was made yesterday, permit cf ft presentation of th© financial position of the municipality as at March Slut last. The reports made their appearance somewhat later than usual, this being due to the fact that the City Treasurer's department has been 1 overwhelmed with work in connexion with unemployment relief schemes which delayed the preparation of the balancesheet, on which a great deal tif the information in the Treasurer's report is based. In the figures given shillings and pGiiee have been omitted; A summary of the information regarainc receipts and payments, supplied by the City Treasurer (Mr j. W. Nivcfl), gives the following comparisons-.
