MR JONES TO RESIGN AFTER HOLIDAYS. (PKISg ASSOCIATION tlLiaailt.) WELLINGTON, December 22. ! It is learned that the Minister for \ Agriculture, the Hon. D. Jones, who J was defeated at the General Election, will not resign his portfolio until ho returns from his home in the south after the holidays. He is now completing certain detail work which he began before the election. ' This delay will mean that the Cabinet re-shulfle will not be undertaken until early in ' the New Year. The Prime Minister, the Rt. Hon. G. W. Forbes, says the question of Mr Jones's successor in the Cabinet has not yet been considered. The Hon. J. G. Cobbe, Minister for Justice, is now expected to attend to Ministerial duties in Wellington during the absence of other members of the Cabinet during the .holidays. ! 1

Official advice has been received by the Auckland Aero Club that the subsidy on pilots paid by the Defence Department is to be reducod. The letter, which came from the Director of Air Services, states that in future the aero clubs will receive the Government grant on a maximum of nine pupils who qualify for their A licenses in each year. The subsidy which has been paid for tho past two years has been £25 a head for the first 20 pupils trained in a year. Not only has the number of pilots on whom the subsidy is payable been reduced, but the subsidy itself lias had. a 10 per cent, cut, and in future will be £22 10s. The, total subsidy payable, formerly £6OO, will in future be £202 10a.
