GERALDINE. The annual meeting of the Geraldine Downs-Kaukapuka Water Supply Committee was held in Mr J. Kennedy's rooms on Monday evening, Mr Kennedy occupying the chair. Present; — -Messrs ii. Hill, E. Twigg, li. (Scott, and J. Kelliher, Apologies were received from AJessrs G. K, Hammond and T. Robinson. In the course of his report, the chairman stated, that although the season had been dry, the supply of water had been well maintained. Work had had to be undertaken at the headworks. as the W aihi river had receded from the intake, but since the work had been completed there had been a full head of water running. During the dry weather a serious wastage of water took place in Raukapuka, causing a shortage on the Downs, and depriving farmers of water for their stock The Geraldine Borough Council had had a prohibitory notice inserted in the newspapers which had a good effect, and no complaints had since been received. The financial position was as follows : —lteceipts, increased rate levied, £826 6s 3d ; payments, labour, £ll Is lOd; interest and sinking fund, £74 i) 2s 9d ; share office expenses, £25 ; credit balance, £4l Is 8d; total, £826 6s 3d. There was a debit balance of £513 3s 3d at M*rch 31st, 1930, which had now been reduced to £472 Is 7d, when the credit balance for the year had been deducted. Tn moving the adoption of the chairman's report. Mr E. Twigg remarked that the committee should be pleased with the working of the scheme. Everything was satisfactory, and since the slight rise in the viator rate they would earn sufficient to work out the debit balance in time. Mr H. Hill seconded the motion, which was carried unanimously. On the motion of Messrs E. Twie;g and P. Scott, the following committee was elected for the ensuing vear: Messrs H. Hill. J. Kelliher, J. Kennedy. T. Robinson, and G. R. Hammond. On the motion of Messrs Hill and Kelliher, Mr Kennedy was elected chairman for a further year. 1 The Ranger (Mr \V._ T. Turner} submitted a report, showing that 20 persons, whose properties were connected with the bad tans and troughs in an unsatisfactory condition. The committee de'ided to ask the Council to request these ratepayers to put their connexions in order. ST. ANDREWS. The'St. Andrew's Hall was packed on Thursday night, when the pupils of the school presented their annual concert to a most appreciative audience. The accompaniments were played by Miss 0. Hay, and the music for the dance which followed was supplied by Mrs "Wimsett (piano), Mr H. Dellow (cornet), and Mr J. Turpie (violin). Mr H. Edwards acted as M.C.
