CONVERSION OF CAR.
p THREE MONTHS* IMPRISONMENT. ABBOCIJLTIOII T*L,*<i«UK I WELLINGTON, Deoernber 22. Discharged from prison yesterday morning ufter serving a sentence of three months' imprisonment for stealing money from a motor-bus, Lindsay Edist Edward Garner, a panel-beater, aged 21, converted a motor-car to his own use, and was arrested in Customhouse quay after he had been chased by constables through city streets. When he appeared before Mr T. 13. McNeil, S.M., at the Magistrate's Court this, afternoon, he was sent bacit to gaol for a further period of three months. Sub-Jnspector Lopdell said the far was taken from the city early lust night, and accused, with another man and some girls, took it to a party at Kaiwarra. The car v."as reported missing, and late at night Constable Grant saw it going up street, and followed it through to Willis street, where he saw a man and three girls get out. When he reached the car he saw accused sitting in the driver's seat and also another girl. As the constable approached accused started the car, but the constable jumped on the running-hoard, and although Garner swerved the car from side to side in an endeavour to throw him off, he managed to stop it. Accused then jumped out of the c;ir and ran down Ghuznee fctreet into St;;rdee street, where (ionbtable Fletcher took up the chase and ultimately arrested him in Customhouse quav.
