CLAIM BY POWER BOARD. (PRESS ASSOCIATION T*LIGiAM.) ELTHAM, December 22. In a case at the Magistrate's Court to-day a claim by the Taranaki Power Board for over £8 availability rate on a parish hall property was defended by the Most Rev Francis Redwood, Roman Catholic Archbishop. Counsel for the Board held that as the hall was used for public entertainments it did not come under the exemption clause. Defendant stated that the hail originally had been a school until it became too small for that purpose, but was still used for teaching sinking and dancing, items included in the school curriculum. Further, all entertainments were held solely under the auspices of and by the Catholic Church, the proceeds being in aid of the school for which the parish was responsible. Decision was reserved by Mr Tate, S.M. _ '
