SWANNANOA SCHOOL.
At the break-up of the School on Friday there was a large attendance of parents and friends. A very interesting display of sewing, drawing, plaßticene work, and arts and craftp was on exhibit. Great credit is due to both teachers and pupils for the amount of interesting work during the year. The schoolroom was gay '.with pictures Bnd bowls of flowers. A feature of the afternoon was a fathers' 'apd mothers' Christinas tree, from which presents made by the children were distributed by a tiny Father Christmas, Tommy Burgin. The prize list was as follows: Standard VI. —Arnold Paget 1. ■ . Standard V.r—Anne Chapman 1, Pauline Burgin 2. " „ • . Standard II. —Mary Chapman I, Colm Court 2. Standard I.—Esme Norris 1, Norman Skevlngton and Audrey Court (equal) 2. All the children received a small prize., Afternoon tea waß dispensed by the children, and the chairman (Mr W. Kelly) wished children and parents a happy Christmas. Mr Burgin, on behalf of the committee and parents, thanked the teacher, Miss Hughes, for the efficient manner in which she had conducted the school during the year. HAWARDEN DISTRICT HIGH SCHOOL. The prizc-siving in connexion with the Hawarden District High School was held in tbe school grounds, on Thursday. In the absence of the. chairman, the prizes were presented by Messrs J. W. In the • evening - the annual fancy dress ball and concert was held. ■ The 'large attendance of parents iiid others present el-owed their appreciation of the varied progiatnme.
