CITY ORGAN RECITAL.
TO-NIGHT'S PROGRAMME. Festive Christmas music will form a very large part of the organ recital to be given by Dr. Bradshaw at the Civic Theatre this evening at 8 o'clock. The City organ possesses special qualities, which lend themselves admirably to the portrayal of Christmas music. The pastoral effects of wood-wind instruments, the joyful sound of bells, and the solemn chanting of voices all have a special significance at this. season, and these picturesque features will' be heard in several of the works to be presented. Lemmens's Storm Fantaßia and the "Dance of the Bells" (Uebikoff) will be included by request. The other cumbers of the programme are as follows; —Overture, Pastoral SytnShony and chorus, "For Unto Us a Child is om," from "The Messiah" (Handel); chorale, "Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring" (Bach); Scottish carol, Offertoire on Two Christmas Themes, and the. Pastorale and Finale from the First Symphony for Organ and Orchestra (Guilmant); '.'March of tho Magi Kings" (Dubois); "Angelus," from "Scenes Pictoresques" (Massenet); "Noel, with Variations" (Louis d'Aq^iin); "Shepherd's Oradlo Song" (Somervell); "The Curfow" (Horsman); sacred song, "Nazareth" (Gounod); "Festival March in E Flat" (Lachner). The plan is at The Bristol. Concessions are granted to students attending colleges and schools.
The Doxology was sung by 2000 people when a drink license for a hotel at Bangor, Wales, was refused. Leopards are the most dangerous of all the man-eating beasts in India.
