PERSONAL. (special to the tress.) GREYMOUTH, December 14, The Rev. Dr. James Gibb, formerly minister of St. John's Church, Welling, ton, is visiting Westport. Mr R. C. Addison, Inspector of the Bank of New South Wales, is visiting Grey mouth. Nurse Haydon, of the staff of the Grey Hospital, returned on Saturday from Christ church. Mr W. Newton, who has been visiting Greymouth, returned on Saturday Jo Wellington. The Bishop of Nelson, the Right Rev. Dr. Sadlier, is visiting Greymouth, and conducted a - confirmation service last evening at Runanga. Madame Lastaste and Mile. R. Lastaste (Paris) are visiting the West Coast. Inspector and Mrs Fitzpatrick returned on Saturday fr6m Christchurch, Mr and Mrs W. H. McCorquindale returned from Christchurch on Saturday. Miss Vera Campbell left on Saturday for Wellington, where her marriage to Mr C. O'Donnell takes place on December 30th. .. ' Tennis. The United Tennis Club visited Runanga on Saturday and played a match with the home club. The match was won by United with 14 sets (158 games) against Runanga's 10 sets (135 games). The Runanga B team played the United B at Greymouth on Saturday, defeating the latter by 20 sets to 4. Unemployed. The number of unemployed in the district is given as 1414, of whom" 756 are being employed under the No. 5 Scheme. In. Greymouth those registered, in addition, total 469, of whom 161 are employed under the No. 5 Scheme. Inquest. In connexion with the inquest as to the death of Mr Charles Bugg, who died as a result of his motor-car going over ..the bank at 17-mile Bluff, on the Coastal road, on October 25th last, the evidence of Mrs Rugg was taken on Saturday at the Grey Hospital before Mr W. Meldrum, Coroner. The witness stated that she did not remember anything about the accident or who was driving at the time. She had driven the car at different times; but her husband always sat beside her, as she harl no license. She had never driven over portion of the road where the accident; occurredj She was in the hospital three weeks before she knew anything about the accident, and was unable to give any particulars regarding it. The inquest was adjourned to a day to be fixed. Cricket. The cricket fixtures yesterday were played in perfect weather, with the wickets in the best o'f order. As a result of the day's play, Marist joined United at the top of the competition ladder with a total of 13 points each. In the A division, United defeated Runanga at Karoro Domain, their batsmen failing against the fast bowling of Casey, who took six wickets for 52. United scored 181 for four, declared (Nightingale 55, Grooby 47, Restieaux 30, Kear 23, Casey not oufc 18). Runanga in their first strike scorei! 11l (Masters 33, Murray not out 22). In their second innings, Runanga had 63 on for four when time was called (Smithson 26, Bannister 22). Playing at Cobden Domain, United B beat Cobden B on the first innings by 43. United batted first, and scored 114 (Mac Donald 31, Gilbert 23, Rapley 21). Cobden scored 71 in their first innings (Walton 25, Rose 15). Cobden A defeated Star at Omoto. There was something of a sensation when Mosley and Cooper dismissed Cobden for 18 runs in their first strike, though in the second Cobden piled up the score and passed Star's total before time was called. Star, batting first, compiled 91 (Nelson 29, Pring 15). In their second innings, they put on 54 (Kerr 17). Cobden scored 18 in their first innings, Mosley accounting for five wickets for 6, and Cooper five for 11. In their second strike Cobden had 138 for four wickets at call of time (Smith 62, Knapp not out 45). Mcintosh retired hurt having received a nasty gash over his right eye from a ball which flew off the shoulder of his bat.

In the B division, Marist B beat Camerons at Camerons. Marist B, who. are at the bottom of the B competition ladder, brought off a surprise victory. Batting first they scored 52 (O'Connor 19). In their second innings they compiled 90 (O'Connor 13, Majeski 13, Morel not out 13). Camerons' first innings yielded 72 (Nissen 37), and their second 31 (Jacobsen 12). Eunanga was successful in beating Kamaka, the B division leaders, by the narrow margin of one run. Kamaka, batting first, compiled only 26, Eunanga replying with 27. In their second strike Kamaka hit up 108 for four declared. Eunanga had 108 when their last wicket well, thus winning by one run.

Brunner B - beat Kumara at Dobson securing a three-point win.
