Acceptances for the Hprorata Meeting wil close at the C.J.C. rooms at § p.m. to-morrow. Final payments and acceptances for the Auckland Racing Club's Summer Meeting will be due on Friday. Tho Hororata Track. An impression prevailed at Riccarton Saturday that the Hororata Racing Club's track was in an unfavourable condition owing to the continued dry weather, and to being heavily grazed. Advice received yesterday, however, stated that the track had received a good Juurowiflg, and although there will not be the usual coating of grass, and the ground will be hard, satisfactory and atife going should be provided. A beneficial rainfall on Saturday would abo improve matters, and owners can rest assured that tho track will be in food order for next Saturday's racing. A Bad Traveller. Compris would lose a lot of support lor the Auckland Cup by his two disappointing efforts at last week's Woodvilte Meeting. According to advice received from his trainer, C, Davoy, Compris failed to feed satisfactorily from €J»e outset of the trip north, and wm far from being himself on either day* Davey took him to Mar ton for a few days after the Meeting in the hope that the change would work an improvement In him, and ho was to go on to Elierslie this week. In any case, Compris has received" a serious cheek, and this must have a damaging effect when m tiro mile ordeal has to be faced. Mxe&m from Biecarton. : sominations for the various holiday meetings in both islands have given some definite idea of the destinations of the several Riecarton horses booked to travel, and present indications are that the teams will be distributed as follows:—. Auckland—Gay Crest, Tout le Mond (T. Lloyd); t Jaloux, Azalia, Delice P. Maaoa); Bunraven, Juniper, Shatter (F. U. Joces); Great Star, Grand Review (I. H, Prosser); Gustavo (T. H. GilMi); Spoon (6. Of those mentioned above, Charnteuse, - Palace, Ringing Cheer, Red Heckle, and Convoy are booked to race at In rercargill on January 2nd and 4th, and Cbaraeuse, Palace, and Convoy have also been nominated for the Wyndham fixture on New Year's Day. for the Westland and Greymouth Meetings, the following figure in the

list for one or both programmes:—Taku Tama, Monastic (C. McCarthy), Night Recital (E. McLennan), Arrowmaid, Segrave, Hunting Call, Royal Amphora, leeni (J. W. Jennings), Coll, Battle Hero (D. S. Adamson), Miss Mercia, Rational 11. (W. McDonald), Limited, Verdun (R. Adamson), Dianthus, Homecoming (T. H. Gillett), Ma Belle Polly, Balrazie (Mrs J. Campbell), Gigglcswick, Kuocklong (H. Nurse), Honeycomb, Night Flyer, Gasrangc (J. B. Pearson), Gold Mint (J. Lindsay), Lady Valkyrie (G. S. Powell), Minerval (F. Christmas), and Silver Ring (R. W. King). Brilliant Two-year-olds. At \Voodville on Thursday a brilliant sprint was executed by the two two-year-olds La Moderne and Inflation from Mrs A. McDonald's stable, who made the trip specially for the purpose. La Moderne carried A. E. Ellis and Inflation had Gray up. From a flying start they were timed to run three in 34 on the course proper. La Moderne had a slight advantage as they passed, the post, but both were going well.. The time was questioned, and so were tho marks, but several experienced trainers, including the local ones, guaranteed the time, and the marks also. They promise to run well in the Foal Stakes, in which they will have the Same riders.. Chief Cook will complete Mrs McDonald's team for the north, and he will also give a good account of himself. A Good Trio. Mr C. Keeble will be represented at Auckland by Lack, Golden Wings, and Beacon Fire. He has three first-class gallopers in this lot and Golden Wings in particular gained a lot friends-for the Railway Handicap by his trial gallop on Wednesday. Lack, on the other hand, went out of favour for the Foal Stakes, but it might not be wise to'take too much notice of his disappointing effort, for his mate is exceptionally brilliant. Beacon Fire emphasised the promise ho displayed at the New Zealand Cup Meeting and he will make his presence felt in tlie minor eve.nts. No arrangements have been completed regarding a Tider for Golden Wings as there is a prospect of E. Reed being available in the absence of Hunting Cry. . Reeftou The date of closing of nominations for the Reef ton Trotting Club's Meetijifr has teen ©xtonded to Thursduyj December 17th, owing to the represcn-. tations t)f owners of horses engaged at New Brighton.—Press Association. Rehandicap. King's Archer has been rehandicapped to 8-13, in the Atidwa Handicap, at the Taranalci Christmas Meeting. TROTTING NOTES. Reminders. Nominations for the Canterbury Park T.C.'s Meeting close to-morrow 'at noon. Nominations for tho Reef ton Jockey Club's Meeting close at 9 p.m. to-mpr-row (two trotting- events each day). Acceptances' for the Westport T.C.'s Meeting close • to-morrow.-the Hororata R.C.'s close to-morrow. Acceptances for the South Wairarapa Trotting Club's Meeting ©lose on Thursday. Acceptances for tho Gore and Ashr burton Meetings, close on Friday; Australian Toarn. The team of 11.I 1 . B. McFarlane, which is quartered at Epsom, is reported to be accomplishing good work on the tracks at Alexandra Park. Huon Voyage, the only trotter in the company, is displaying great dash in his daily tasks. Auckland Acceptors. . Royal Silk is coming on the right way in view of his Auckland Cup engagement, and he is likely to strip a very fit horse on December 28th, the day. on which that race will be decided. Other members of the same trainer 'a team, in .Mr Penalty, Ukulele Lady, Peter Pirate, and Impromptu, are also in at.the same Meeting. Southern Meetings in View. Actor is being kept moving along with the Gore and Winton Meetings in view. He is engaged in the principal race at both fixtures. As a Two-Miler. Gold Country will be making his first attempt over a two-mile journey if he contests the Gore Trotting Club Handicap, but he has finished on well enough at the end of a mile and a half to suggest that the extra half-mile will not bother him greatly. A Novice. Tenor, whose name appears in tho list of nominations for the Horo.rata Meeting, is a three-year-old gelding by Author Dillon from Miss Dorothy, and he is trained by H. Frost at New Brighton. He has yet to make his appearance in public. Proved Himself. Those who were in doubt as to the staying capabilities of Pageant d'Or are now doubtful no longer, as the five-year-old stallion won the principal two mile race at Brighton with' a great deal in hand, and he went 4min 33 4-5 sec from a 4min 40sec mark. His Chance. Plain Silk has threatened to win another race for some time, and on his Ashburton form he appears to have a good opportunity at Hororata on Saturday. In Commission Again. Whakataua *came to grief in his training work some months ago; but that he has made a good recovery from the injuries he suffered can be taken from the fact that he is nominated for the t Ashburton Meeting. NGINGONGINGO CASE. 4

PAYMENT OF STAKES OPPOSED. ACTION BY OWNER. Noticfl has beon served on the Auckland Trotting Club by Mr R. M. Morten, owner of the horse Ngingongingo, winch is intended to have the effect of an injunction restraining the club from paying over the stakes in the Labour Day Handicap, run at the Club's October Meeting. After the race the club decided that the running of the horse Ngingongingo was inconsistent and unsatisfactory as compared with his running in the Jellicoe Handicap run earlier at the Meeting, and disqualified the horse for the race and. for a period of a year, and also disqualified the driver, A. Brycc, for one year. The case went on appeal to the Board of the New Zealand Trotting Association, which upheld the appeal, reversing the judgment of the club committee. The committee thereupon appealed to the Trotting Conferonce, and the case was referred to three appeal judges, Messrs H. I<\ Nieoll, A. T. Donnellv, and B. S. Irwin. The appeal judges allowed the appeal, sustaining the decision of the club committee, and Reversing the judgment of the Trotting Board. As a protest against this finding, the members of the Trotting Board, with one exception, resigned office at their last meeting. The case can now go to the Trotting Conference, and may even go to the Law Courte. It is understood that one of the grounds of Mr Morten's action is that the appeal judges are alleged to have heard fresh evidence without calling the owner of the horse. WAIRARAPA R.C. HANDICAPS.
