COUNCILLOR'S SERVICES.

' RECOGNITION BY MOUNT PLEASANT RESIDENTS. In order to recognise in a, tangible manner the services given to the Mount Pleasant disiiict* by Cr. A. G. Williams, as representative of the riding on the Heathcote County Council, a stone engraved with his name kvns laid in the newly constructed wall on Edenhill road, overlooking the Domain l'eserves at Mount Pleasant, on Saturday afternoon. There was a good attendance of residents. The president of the Mount Pleasant Burgesses' Association, Mr H, Edgar, referred to the invaluable work carried out by Cr. Williams during his term of office. - Cr. J. L. Danks, chairman of the Heathcote County Council, also spoke of Cr. Williams's constant interest in the welfare of his riding. Mr Edgar called on Cr. Williams to lay the stone, and for this purpose handed him a silver trowel presented by an anonymous wpman ratepayer. The stone is inscribed: • "This stone was laid by-Cs. A. Q. Williams, 1931/' It was provided* and inscribed by Mr W. It. Webb, who. originated the idea of commemorating Cr. Williams's services.
