AIR LINER CRASH.
COLONEL BRINSMEAD'S INJURIES. HOPE OF RECOVERY. (CSITZD PBESB ASSOCIATION—B* ILICTKIC TELSORAPJI—COPTBIGHT.) (Received December Bth, 7 p.m.) SINGAPORE, December 8. Lieutenant-Colonel H. C. Brinsmead, Australian Director of Civil Aviation, who was a passenger in tho Dutch air liner which crashed in Siam, killing live persons, is seriously injured, but his condition is reported to be improved. Ho has ribs broken, lungs damaged, and contusion of the brain. One side of his body is partly paralysed. There is now more hope of his recover}'. _ He took passage with the Dutch air-mail liner when he heard of Ivingsford-Smit.h's accident at Darwin. CAUSE OF ACCIDENT. WINDOW NOT CLOSED. (Received December Bth, 7.10 p.m.) LONDON, December 8. It is learned at The Hague that the cnuso of the Bangkok accident was a little aluminium window, which was built at the request of the pilots in the aeroplane's wing, to enable them "° l«ave the cockpit in case of accident. The pilot forgot to close the wjndow after it had been opened to .!£? cockpit °f engine fumes.— "lh o Times" Cable. AN ENQUIRY ORDERED. /Received December 9th, 12.10 a.m.) SINGAPORE, December 8. Licut.-Colonel Brinamead's condition is unchanged. The Dutch Company officials deny the statement that tho monoplane was overloaded. It was carrying less than when it left Alor Star. The -King of Siam has ordered an enquiry.
