• RANGIORA. Mr {jauiuel Alford Webber, a business mhn of llangiora, died on Friday evening at bis house in Ashley street, after a short illness. Mr Webber had been ill for a short time, but was out and aboutrup to Tuesdays morning last. Mr Webber was a partner in the firm of Watkins and Webber, and as local agents tor the International Harvester Company, came into contact with many farmers, amongst whom ho was very popular.. He took a great interest in the -Bowling Club, and held the office of president of the Bowling, Tennis, and Croquet Club for a year. The funeral took place yesterday afternoon, and' was largely attended, tie was buried at tho Anglican Cemetery, the funeral service : being conducted by the Itev. J, F. Feron. As a member of the M.TJ., 1.0.0. F. Lodge, there was a. full muster of his comrades, as well • as of members of the Bowling, Tennis, and Croquet Club. Mr Webber leaves a widow, one son, Ronald, of the staff of the' Union Bank.' Greymouth, two daughters, Mrs F. T. Tolmio (Rangxora) and Mrs A. P. Dunn (ChristBesides a . number of family wreaths, flowers were sent by the llangiora Bowling, Tennis, and Cfoquet Club, Rangiora Lawn Tennis Club, Rangiora Plunket Society, the managing director and staff of the International Harvester Company, Ltd., the manager and staff of the Atlas Insurance Company, Ltd.,: Forbes, Ltd., and staff, Harlow and Jones, Annie, Ted, and the boys, Jim, Clara, and Kathleen, Annie, Niel, Carl, and Gladys, tho Maynard family, Boyd and Hughev families, Mr and Mrs It. The annual social held by tho combined Anglican parishes of Ohoka, Maxton, and Eyreton, held in the. Ohoka Hall, was a great success and drew an unusually large attendance from the three, parishes, as well as from adherents of other religious, bodies. The function after the preliminary tea resolved itself into an old-time dance, for which the musio was played by Knight's dance band, and of which Mr Stevenson, of Oxford, was M.C. SHEFFIELD. The annual meeting of the Sheffeld Horticultural Society was held recently. It was decided to hold the annual show on the January sale day. The following officers were elected:—Patroness, Mrs W. Deans; president, Mrs G. Butler; vice-presidents, Messrs A. W. Adams, J. B. Cullen, D. Deans, G. H. Judd, T. S. Innes, F. Cogan, S. - Stephens, the Rev.
