ROTARY GATHERING AT TIMARU.
CHRISTCHURCH AND O AMARU VISITORS. (PRJUS ASSOCIATION TELEGRAM.) TIMARU, November 1. Hotariaus from Christchurch, Oamaru, and Tiinaru assembled in Timaru last night for tho purposes of a joint club dinner and social evening. The visiting clubs were well represented, the attendance being about eighty. The president of the Timaru Club (Dr. L. S. Talbot) presided, and the past. District Governor of New Zealand, Mr C. J. Eonaldson, was also present.
A welcome to the visitors was extended by Dr. Talbot, the replies being made by Rotarian A. M. Burns, president of the Christehurch Club, and Rotarian W. Kinder, president of the Oamaru Club. The visitors provided speakers for the night in Professor H. G. Denham, of Canterbury College, and Mr A. Hamilton, of Oamaru. Acknowledging Timaru's hospitality to the visitors, Sir Burns said that the evening had been a great success and should be instrumental in strengthening the spirit of Rotary. He suggested that it would be possible to have a rally at Oamaru in tho near futuro of tho Christehurch, Timaru, Oamaru, Dunedin, and Invereargill Clubs. Professor Denliam gave an interesting address on the inventions and discoveries of the pas! century and their effect on the labour situation. Mr Hamilton spoke on invested capital, stressing the necessity for wise investment as a means of conserving the wealth of New Zealanders.
