WHEAT MARKETING.
TO THE • BDITOB OF THE PBBBS. Sir,—As a supporter of the formation of a Board to regulate the marketing'of wheat, I have not yet heard of any valid reason why *&«' said . Board should consist of others than 4t» stwes «nd miliar. Bwb tekift&
as eorrect the statement made, that 75 Sr cent, of the growers are financed the mercantile firms, that is _no argument in favour of their, inclusion, -as that is all part of their business. There is just as - much, reason to include banks,' and,- for that matter, mortgagees. - Any extra, business ability can be, ruled out, as. some balancesheets of recent years ,do not point to anything outstanding in that direction. The firms do not co-operaje with the farmer when fixing'prices for cornsacks, storage, receiving, selling, delivering,'etc. . . Another point is thiri: free growers might think - deeply before sacrificing their freedom by forming another Association with, aims similar to those of the present Wheat-growers' Association, and with no guarantee of better or even as good management. -Unity is essential at present. —Yours, etc., FREE GROWER.
