ALLEGED THEFT.
BUTCHER BEFORE COURT. (PB«S3 iSSOCUTIOK I'ELZOaA.M.) WANGANUI, October 30. On Tuesday morning William Henry Symons, a butcher, of Wanganui, East, reported to • tho ■ police ' that' at 6.3oo'clock that morning, pepper was thrown iti his face by a person hiding behind the door of" the shop, and that he was assaulted and robbed of £l4. As a sequel to the story, Detective Murrav .arrested Symons. last; evening and he appeared before the Magistrate's Court this .morning, charged with receiving £l3 12s on terms requiring him to account for the money to Senior and Bennett, and fraudulently omitting to do so. Detective Murray, in asking for a remand till November 4th, said that Symons now admitted that tho story was untrue, and that the injuries he received were eeif-inflicted.
