ACCIDENTS.
A BROKEN THIGH. (Pitiaa AasociATiox TKJHMU*) AUCKLAND, October 29. In spite of her 82 years, Mrs Rebecca Hazard, who lites alone in a cottage at Weymouth, was able to drag tersely for a distance of over two chains into her homo after she had suffered a fracture of a thigh this morning. Shortly after eight o'clock, as she was carrying a bucket of water to her fowls, Mrs Hazard slipped and fell heavily. Her house is some distance from her neighbours, and she was unable to attract attention. When her cries for help were unheeded, she began her painful crawl to the house. She had to rest every minute or two, but eventually _ she reached shelter. At lunch-time a friend, came to the house, and found Mrs Hazard in great pain. A doctor was called, and after attention, Mrs Hazard was taken by ambulance to the Auck land Hospital. Her condition is fairly serious. CAUGHT IN BELTING. Injured while working on a nt Darfield yesterday morning James Turton, of Rakaia, aged lS' was admitted to the Chnstchurch Public Hospital at about 12.30 from a fractured right leg.
