CANTERBURY CHAMPIONSHIPS. FINALS DECIDED. • The finals of the Canterbury amateur wrestling championships were held last night in the gymnasium of Mr J. Musson, before a crowded attendance. The results were: — FEATHER-WEIGHT. Final. R. Foord (Bst 81b) beat P. Kane (Bst' 131b). There was little in the first round, each being content to adopt '.'wait-and-see * tactics. There was no hold completed excopt a headlock by Foord, which Kane broke after 30 seconds on tho mat. . . In the second round early Kane just missed a fall with a body press, when Foord wriggled off the mat when in serious difficulty, was an exciting round, with Kane oliead on points. There was no fall in the third round, but Foord was the aggressor, and a lurtner round was ordered. Kane tired in the extra time, and was forced to use all his ringcraft to avoid a fall. The decision was given to Foord on points. WELTER-WEIGHT. Final. G. Farmer (lOst) drew with W. Mitchell After'Vhree rounds another After that a draw was declared. The bout was an uneventful one.
