DUNEPIif, September 15. . After thirty years as Professor of Mining and Uepaenua Geology and Dean pf the Mining Faculty of the University of Otsgo, Professor James Park this afternoon tendered his resignation to the University Council. Professor - Park arrived in the Dominion in J875, and two years later he joined the New Zealand Geographical Survey as a field geologist under Sir James Hector. Be became Mining Geologist in 1885, and in that pap&eity he obtained a knowledge of every part of New Zealapd that made him the greatest living authority on the physical fs&tnres of this country, From 1360 tq J.SPS he was Director of the Thames Sehoqj of Mining, and in 1901 he took charge g( tho Otaga School of Mines, which he hag raised to a degree of fame recognised by mining experts in every part of the world.
