ASHBURTON CLUB.
. DECISION TO CONTINUE BAR BUSINESS.
COMMITTEE'S ACTION ENDORSED. To consider the position of the Ashburton Club and Mutual School o£ Arte, consequent on the receipt of the notification from the Minister for Internal Affairs (the Hon, P. A. de la Perrclle) last week to cease tho gale of liquor forthwith, a special meeting pf the member* was held Inst evening, when there was a large attendance. The following resolution wag carried unanimously;—
"That this meeting of members endorses the committee's action, and authorises it to take whatever steps it thinks fit, to protect the rights and privileges of members in the event of legal proceedings being taken."
Notice that tho salo of liquor over tho bar of tho club must cease "was received ou September 10th from the Minister for Internal Affairs. The matter Avas considered by the committee of the club on the same day, -when it was decided to be guided by the advice of tho club's solicitor. Tho sale of liquor is being continued in the meantime.
