TARANAKI LEAVES BALBOA.
En route from London, the Taranaki left Balboa on Friday evening for fcyttelton, where she ia due on October 2nd. MONOWAI FOR SAN FRANCISCO. Leaving Wellington on September Bth, the Union liner Monowai left Rarotonga on Saturday, loft Papeete on Monday, and in due at San Francisco on September 25th. WAIKOUAITI TO DOCK. The Union Company's intercolonial cargo steamer Waikouaiti, which is discharging and loading at Lyttelton, is expected to sail to-morrow for .Timaru, Oamaru, Dunedin, Bluff, thence to Sydney and Newcastle. While at Dunedin she will shift to Port Chalmers, where she will dock for cleaning and painting. THE MAKURA. The Union liner Jlakura, bound from San Francisco, left Papeete on Saturday. She was to leave Rarotonga yesterday, and is due at Wellington on September 21st, and leaves on the following day for Sydney, whero she is due on September 26th. MAHIA TO LOAD. Tho Mahia, .which is coming to tlio Dominion to load for the United Kingdom, left Cairns, Australia, on Saturday morning. Sho is due at Bluff next Saturday, and leavoß Auckland on October Btli for London, via Cape Horn. TONGARIRO DISCHARGING. Continuing the dischargo of her United Kingdom cargo, the New Zealand Shipping Company's Tongariro left Auckland at 7.30 a.m. on Saturday for Napier. She will proceed to Wellington, Lyttelton, and Dunedin, being due here' about Sunday. THE HERMINIUS. In continuation of her homeward loading, the Shnw, Savill liner Herminius arrived at Wellington from Timaru on Sunday. She will leave again' to-day for Gisborne and Auckland, leaving the latter port finally on September 23rd for London, via Panama. SHIPPING LAID UP. Twenty vessels belonging to the Union Steam Ship Company are at present laid' up owing to slackness of trade. . The total gross tonnage of the vessels amounts to 71,373 tons, while .1027 men are displaced. The vessels are laid up at the following ports:— Auckland —Waitemata, 5729 tons; Wai-, kawa, 5677 tons; Waitomo, 4214 tons; Kaitoke, 3167 tons; Kairanga, 2830 tons; Kurow, 2625 tons; Kaimanawa, 2416 tons; Kartigi, 2347 tons; Kiwitea. 2643 itons. Wellington—Kaiwarra, 3051 tons; Omana, 2523 tons; Katoa, 2484 tons; Kaimai. 1428 tons; Komata, 2115 tons. Port Chalmers —Marama, 6497 tons; Maheno, 5323 tons; Kaikorai, 3151 tons; Kawatiri, 3127 tons; Kahika, 1172 tons.
Sydney—Moeraki, 4421 tons; Kckerangu, 3146 tons; Gabriella, 1587 tons.
