The difficulties of Invorcargill social organisations in providing assistance for those *ll distress are being added to by an invasion of young men from the north, who are arriving daily in Invorcargill in search of employment. At a meeting of tho Centra] Relief Committee yesterday Mr T. Pryde, secretary of tlio Southland Hospital Board, said that four men from the north had applied to him for assistance that day. The Hospital Board was unable to undertake the responsibility of boarding unemployed, from the north, but he understood that the Salvation Army had assisted several of the visitors. In ono case a man had "carried his swag" for three weeks, and had managed .to secure one job, which had earned him 10s.—Press Association.
