The following notes on activities at the Canterbury Public Library during the month of August are supplied by the Librarian, Mr E. J. Bell: About 17,000 volumes were issued for home reading during the month of August, this being slightly, less than the number issued during August last year. It is pleasing to record that 101) new members enrolled.' The refei> dice library experienced another busy month arid- 'nearly ll,000; books were consulted, an increase of 3QOO conipared with August last year.
