HORTICULTURE WEEK.
PROGRESS OF .ARRANGEMENTS.
The General Committee of Horticulture Week met last night, Mr O. W. B. Anderson presiding. Reporting on behalf of Show SubCommittee, the chairman said that the schedule had been completed, and A copies wpre on the table. The Programme SubCommittee had asked the Show ' Sub* Committ i to arrange for the King Edward Barracks, and this had been done, and applfcation had been made for the use of the Barracks on Thursday and January 28th and 29th, 1932. I The report was received. Mr E. E. Wiltshire, reporting on be-, half of the Publicity Committee, said that the following items had been suggested :— : Parade of decorated vehicles and fancy dress parade, floral maypole dance, floral folk dance, Miss Bessie Macdonald's pupils, tiny tots' parade, gymnastic drill by Mr Buckett'a pupils, fend floral skipping display. The report was received. Programme for the Week. Mr J. N. McLeod reported that the Programme Sub-Comniittee had drawn lip the following programme for; Horticulture Week,, January 25th to 30th, 1932: • Monday, January Spth—7 p.m., fleeting of General and Standing Committees. Tuesday, January ' 26th —9.30 a.m.! Civic welcome. 10 a.m.: Official opening and photograph. _ 2 p.m. and 7.45 p.m.; Conference sessions ot Horticultural Trade Association. -Wednesday, January 27th —9 a.ni. to 12.30 p.m.: Conference session Horticultural Trade Association. 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.: Conference session Institute of Horticulture. 7.45 p.m.: Banks lecture (if arranged). Thursday, January 28th—2 p.m. to 10. p.m.: National flower show. Friday, January 29th —12-30 to 1.30 p.m.: Annual luncheon. 2 p.m. to. 6 p.m.: Annual excursion. 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.: National flower show. A ladies' committee is to be formed at a later date.
Mr McLeod, in reply to a question, said that the arangement-s for the conferences were tentative only; the respective Associations made their own arrangements. '
Mr M. J. Barnett said that the conference of the Parks and Gardens Superintendents' Association ran simultaneously with the Horticultural Trades' Association's conference-
The report was received. It, was. decided to ask his Excellency the Governor-General, Lord Bledisloe, formally to open Horticulture Week.,
