THE CONTROL OF BROAD CASTING.

TO TUB. EDITOR OT THE PEESB Sir,—-I have been a consistent listener for over six yeans.. I have also had the pleasure of listening-in for several weeks to the British Broadcasting Corporation: programmes in England, and 1 must confess that, considering the lladio Broadcasting Company of New Zealand, frpm all viewpoints, we in New Zealand have inuch to b© proud of. I think theV way the company has tried to give listeners, the best service available has, generally ~ speaking, been very successful, fhe increase in the number of licenses proves it. There are mqtn.v f-atures of the programmes which do not meet with my approvdl, but others appreciate them. Again, I consider the Government have already top many irons in the fire, and how it .'can; bo kept from, political con-: •trol is .to me a problem. If one. could see behind the scenes, in my opinion the now Board is already selected. There is only one feature' in the new arrangement that appeals to me, and that is if the broadcasting is to bo run on the same l.ines as the British Broadcasting Corporation; then' I for one shall ! be iglad to learn that no "B" class stations willibe allowed." At one -time 3ZC was 'not allowed on the .air during t-ho time, "that '-3YA waS but Intelv they seem to "be: on. the.: air at all times.", I use a- crystal; arid two stages of audio for 3YA. and being not far from., both stations, I have been annoyed at - receiving botli stations at th'o Jsame vtime.. . On? several-Sunday

nights while a cKurch service was being relayed by one station jaza? nlusic was" beard from the. other. Of course, I know there is a cure for this.—Yours, ' v LET WELL ALONE. • September :sth, 1981. J ' '
