Communist convicts in Barcelona prison precipitated a remarkable'riot, which culmiuatod in their setting fire to tho.Jirl<oii.. While the Commissioner and other officials woro visiting tlio gaol in an endeavour to end a hunger-striko which was bo&un last week, a large group of convicts without warning surrounded tho officials., while 500 others gathered in the courtyard. Some broke into tho infirmary and roturncd with supplies of petrol and fnrnituro from tho wnrdprs' apartments, which they set on fire, then sotting fire to the printing shop and storage rooms. Mounted machine-gun sections hurriedly arrived and overwhelmed the prisoners before they had time to erect barricades. Fire brigades quelled the blaze.
