Under the auspices oc the Lyttelton Lodgo of the R.A.0.8., a dance will bo held in tho Excelsior Hall to-mor-row night Music will be provided bv Stan Griffin's orchestra, and the programme will include old and new dances. Supper will bo provided. South-West Bain. A steady rain from the south-west i fell at Lyttelton all day yesterday and I prevented any work on the waterfront. The hills around the harbour are now well saturated and large waterfalls could be seen descending into the sea in the vicinity of Diamond Harbour end Church Bay. A fresh fall of enow covered the upper slopes of Mt. Herbert. Golf. In Uits round of the junior cliampionsliii the Diamond Harbour Golf Club on Saturday, W. C. Cleary beat H. Beck 4 and 2. The draw for the third round is as follows: —W. C. Cleary plays E Budkin, T. Armstrong plays the winner of L. Blewett and T. Archer, A. Jackson plays 8., H. Gil—monr, W." Maxwell plays the winner of B. Moore and H. Wales. The draw for the second round of the senior championship is as follows: —"Winner of L. Gant-W. Paton plays P. Barnard, N. Thompson plays Q. Mazey; byes, T Bowring and D. Gower. On Sunday the Diamond Harbour Golf Club entertained a team from the Akaroa Club. Foursomes arid singles were played, the home team winning the match. An unusual feature was that each game of the ladies' foursomes was halved. Results aro as follows, Diamond Harbour players being mentioned first:—D. Gower and W. Paton halved with J. McKay and fi. Narbey, T. Thompson and T. BowTing lost to W. McClnre and G. Le Lievre, W. Paine and J. H. Collins beat W. Brocherie and W. Ibbotson, G. Cooper and A". Jackson beat H. Chapman and W. Maxwell, Mrs W. Paton and Miss M. Cook halved with Misses B. and M. Jacobson, Miss' V. Gower and Mrs Cooper halved with Mrs H. Olliver and Miss E. Jaoobson, Mrs T, Archer and Mrs T. Rudkin halved with Miss E. Le Lievre and Miss Cracroft Wilson, Miss Jackson and Mrs •B. Moore halved with Miss M. Brocherie and Miss Buckland. Singles: Gower beat McKay, Paton lost to Narbey, Thompson lost to McClure, Bowring halved* with Le Lievre, Faino beat Brocherie, Collins beat lb- i botson, Cooper beat Chapman, Jackson beat Maxwell, Mrs Paton beat Miss B.
