AKAROA. . The Akaroa Borough Council met last week. Present were: . The Mayor (Mr G. Armstrong), and Crs. A. R. Munro, T. E. Taylor, IT. B. Davis, T. H. Morcom, "W. H. Candy, W. W. Williams, and C. W. Abridge. Leave of absence was granted t Cr. T. McCaughan. An invitation from the Akaroa Fire Brigade to attend the annual nieeticg was accepted. A.i Henderson was granted a carrier's lioe«8e. ■ Correspondence watt received from tha Main Highways Hoard regarding the increased rate of subsidies- on maintenance work. It was decided uphold 'the Hastings Borough Council's protect. against the passing of the- Ketfr Buildings Bill at present before Parliament. No tenders were recfived for leasing Stanley Park. . Cr. Davis submitted a report of a recent inspection of the Droiuoro,, Kesbrves, and the Mayor, town clerk, and Crs. Davis, Taylor, and Williams woio appointed a committee to meet, the 'tenants at a future date. * Cr. Taylor gave notice of. motion to rescind the motion passed recently concerning wages cuts. ,
