(mES3 iBBOCIATIOS TEbijaxM.i AUCKLAND, August 27. "When heavily in debt through sickness in his family, Hudson Gilfillan, aged t'orty-six, postmaster at Epsom, stole £6O. To-day lie pleaded guilty to the theft, as a Government servant, and was committed for sentence. Bail was renewed. The Chief Postmaster said that previously the accused was a man of the highest integrity, and had been thirty years in the service. His salary was £265 10s a year.
