Chamberlain (Wellington) are | staying at the Clarendon Hotel. Mr H. T. Armstrong, M.P., was a passenger from Wellington by the ferry steamer yesterday morning. Mr J. C. Forsytli, of the M.E.D. staff, who has been on a visit to Wellington, returned to Christchurcli yesterday. Mr H. R. Sellers, secretary oi the New Zealand Racing Conference, returned to Wellington by last night's ferry steamer. Messrs A. R. Hosking (Auckland), J. H. Pope (Wellington), A. Moller (Ashburton), and R. P. Sperry (Sydney) are ! guests at the United Service Hotel. Messrs T. Dwkn, C. C. Broadley, D. A. McLean, and the Rev. B. Blair were among the' passengers from Wellington by the ferry steamer yesterday morning. ' Professor D. B. Copland, Dean of the Faculty of Commerce at Melbourne University, arrived from Wellington Ly the ferry steamer yesterday morning, and left later for Timaru. Among the 127 students of Auckland University who received degrees yesterday was Mr J. D. Maguire, a blind graduate, who received his degree in law. He passed the matriculation examination at the Blind Institute, and then went to the University. He is the first blind student to gain a degree in law. — Press Association. Dr. E, Kidson, Director or Meteorological Services, leaves by the Rangitane for London to-day to attend the centenary meeting of the British Association, which is commencing on September 30th. He is the delegate from Australia and New Zealand selected by the Australasian Association for the Advancement of Science. Dr. Kidson will keep in touch with recent developments ,in meteorology, and especially with the late methods of forecasting by the Norwegian school. —Press Association.
