Italy i 5. One machine or each country will start in that order, and the second and third machines will follow in the same order. It was fortunate that tlie. machino was not aloft at the time, otherwise another tragedy could not have been avoided. MR CHICHESTER. JAPANESE AUTHORITIES SUSPICIOUS. TOKIO, August 13. .' Because he took 10 hours to make tho flight from Shanghai to Kagoshima, which ordinarily takes five hours, the local authorities are questioning Mr Chichester to determine whether he landed en route. A WELCOME ASSURED. LANDING ON NAVAL AIRFIELD. (Received August 14th, 10 p.m.) TOKIO, August 14. Mr F. C. Chichester left Kagoshima at. 10,25 this morning, en route to the Kasumigura Naval Airfield,' 50 miles northward of Tokio. He will probably refuel on the Katsuura coast, 100 miles south of Osaka. Ho is at Kasumigura at seven this evening. I-Ie will be welcomed by the Japanese naval authorities. He will then rest a few days before _ proceeding to America, via th© Ituriles and Alaska. Although last evening's examination failed to explain clearly the reasons of delay ir. his flight from Shanghai, the authorities allowed Mr Chichester to continue, reserving further enquiries till later. ! —■ — J ARRIVAL AT KATSUURA. (Received August 14fch, 11.35 p.m.) OSAKA, August 14. Chichester arrived at Katsuura this afternoon. He departs for Tokio tomorrow. A FLOATING BODY SIGHTED. ■ • ('Received August .14th, 9.20 p.m.) OSLO, August 13. A iishing vessel reported sighting a body floating upright in a live-saving jacket, twenty or thirty miles northwest of the Shetland Islands. The weather prevented close approach. It is feared that it may be tho missing aviator Cramer's body.
