In introducing the subj6ct, Mr John Gilkison said the costs of Government and Government expenditure in all directions needed to be drastically curtailed. Ho wished to move that the Minister be asked to furnish a statement of the capital outlay on the track, the hostol, and all branches of the service, including the gross takings and expenditure, and that the Minister bo informed that if a return was supplied tho Chamber might be able to offer suggestions for reducing the heavy loss.
