Mrs Pitman (England) entered the semifinals and beat Miss Dorothy Weisel (Sacra* mento), third ranking United States woman player 6-2, 4-6, 6-4. Miss Joan Ridley (England) beat Hiss Josephine Cruckshank (Santa //m), 4-6, 6-4, 6-2. MATCHES at forest HILLS. MISS NUTHALL LEADS. HEW YORK, August 12. Miss Betty Nuthall and Mrs Helen Will#* Moody head the foreign and domestie seeded list for the women's championships at Forest Hills. Miss Phyllis Mudford, Miss Dorothy Round, Mrs Wliittingstall, Mrs ShepherdBarron, Miss Joan Ridley, Mrs Pitman, and the Italian, Baroness Leri, follow Miss Nuthnll. NEW DRAW NECESSARY. After completing the draw in the women's national tennis championships, officials of the United States Lawn Tennis Association discovered that Miss Alice Marble, of San Francisco, had not been included in the list, and decided to cancel the draw and make a neyr draw on Thursday.
