+ MEETING OF INSTITUTE. The Canterbury District Council of the Horticultural Institute of New Zealand met last night. Present: Messrs T D. Lennic (chairman), A. H Shrubshall. J. N. McLeod, C. A circular Letter from the Dominion secretary isked tor the nomination of two advisory, or associate members ot the National Narcissi Committee Ihe Dominion Lxecutive proposed to approach three or five members as a Central Committee of the National ftarcisis Committee , „ . . . Mr McLeod said that fie did not favour the Dominion Executive making the appointments to the Central Committee Mr Shrubshall said that Sir 11. Beaton Rhodes should be a member ot that committee, if he so desired On the motion of Mr Shrubshall, seconded by Mr McLeod, it was resolved: That the personnel of the Central Narcissi Committee should be decided upon by reference to all the District Councils, and that an oppoitunitv should be given each District Council to suggest nominations ot members • i the Central Narcissi Com--10 The nomination oi the District Council's two advisory, or associate members was left to the chairman and Messrs McLeod and Firman. Horticulture Week. The chairman reported on behalf ot the Institute's delegates the decisions arrived at in respect of Horticulture Week bv the committee of the combined interests, held on August 3rd. The report was adopted. Regarding the statement in a letter from the Dominion secretary as t« the non -issue of tickets giving tree admission to the National Show, to be hold hi ring Horticulture Week, it was deeded to explain that the cooperation of the Canterbury Horticultural Society could not have been ensured -mless its members were given admission; also that the Nationa Show was replacing me of the society s \lr-r.eod brought up the question «f\n increase in the capitation paid to n«!St Councils tot .fl«r some discussion it was derided to deter further consideration.
