After stealing the machines they dismantled them.,; Various parts were produced, making the Couiz look like a | mechanic's, shop. John Foley, aged 21, Thomas Henry Foley, 19, Graham Wilfred Merton, 20, j and George Merton were each admitted jto probation for three years for the j theft of a motor-cycle valued at £45. 1 They were convicted and discharged <?n several other charges. The poliee said that there had been a lot of ear stealing iii the Mt. Eden district, but since the arrest very few re-, ports of stolen cars had' been received. One of the accused had a bunch of car keys when arrested. The Magistrate (Mr F. K. Hunt) said that the accused were all extremely lucky to receive probation. They de- ; served three years each in the Borstal. •
