Diplomas of Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons have been granted to the following New Zealand candidates wlio were successful at the recent examination: —Dr, B. C. Ronnie (Otago and Guy's), Dr. J. A. R, O'Rcgan, Dr. K. B, Bridge (Otago and St. Bart.'s), Dr. E, L. Button (Otago and St. Bart.'s), and Dr. G. G. Talbot (Otago). Dr, and Mrs Rcnnie have decided to return to New Zealand in October. They will leave by .the Espei'aneo Bay. Mr and Mrs C. S. Thomas (Christchruch) arrived by the Tainaroa, and expect to be in New Zealand again in December, connecting with an outward bound vessel at Naples, following a Continental tour. They are remaining in London until after the New Zealand Test match and the athletic championships. Then they will make a tour of England, Scotland. Wales, and Ireland by motor-car. The final departure from London for the Continent will be early in October. Mrs M. Evans (Christchurch) came to England by the Rar.gitane, and sue has booked her return by. thu same vessel leaving on July 3rd. She is paying her first trip to England, and is having a short holiday from her work iti Christchurch.
Miss Clarkson and Miss Marjorie E. Davie (Christchurch) travelled by the Ballarat. The latter intends to stay in England for some time; and intends later to follow up her nursing work bither here or on tho Continent. Miss Clarksdn also hopes to gain further experience in the nursing profession, and she will probably be absent from New Zealand for two or three years. Miss Clarkson and Miss Braithwaite (Christchurch) are going for a month'-s motor tour through England and Scotland. Mr Frank A. Taylor, M.A., Student of Christ Church, Oxford, lias been appointed Lecturer in French. It is officially annonnced that Flying Officer U. S. Maekay, R.A.F., is transferred to the Reserve, Class A (May 30th). Miss Myrell Jefcoate (Christchurch) lias left London on a holiday visit to Biarritz and Spain. Mr Charles E. Jones (Christchurch) had the bad luck to be hit by the medicine ball during the trip in the Rangitanc. Fortunately, skilled medica.l attention was available on board and good progress has been made, but Mr •Tones has not j'et completely recovered. However, he is* able to travel about leisurely, and he has already been booked at a number of centres in connexion with Rotary. He spoke to Kotarians at Shrewsbury last week, and is due at Birmingham early in July; following this will come addresses at York and Wellington (Shropshire). He will be at Warwick and at Edinburgh for the Iloyal Shows, and he looks forward to the flor&l fete at Shrewsbury. The local people consider that tlioir annual flower show is nearly , as fine as the Chelsea Show. It is a very important fixture in the North of England, and the exhibits are undoubtedly 0 f outstanding merit. Mr J6nes will, of course, devote some time to North Wales. He is in good spirits and woks forward to a really interesting time, though just at present he is rather hampered by the injury which he sustained, and he ia not able to do anv motoring.
