Archdeacon F. N. Taylor returned to Christchurch by the ferry steamer yesterday morning. Mr W. D. Smail (Auckland) is a guest at Warner's Hotel. Messrs H. V. Smith (Sheffieldj England) and C. E. Haines (Wanganui) are guests at the Royal Hotel. Messrs J. Forbes, P. Wyatt, and J. Fisher were among the arrivals from Wellington by the ferry steamer yesterday morning. Mr W. L. J. Travers, of the staff of the Bank of New Zealand, Christchurch, has received notice of his transfer to Murchison. Mr Travers expects to leave for his new position on Monday. A motion of sympathy with Mr McGregor Wright (chairman of the Technical College Board of Governors), in the death of his brothers, Messrs A. ..Wright and G. B. Wright, was passed at last night's meeting of the Board. Mr H D Acland was re-elected president of .the Christchurch Citizens' Association at the annual meeting last evening Mr A. S. Taylor, who nominated Mr Acland, spoke, of his excellent qualities and of the fine work which he had done for the Association. A vote of sympathy in the death of Mr J. A. _ Flesher, and of appreciation .of his fine publio services, was carried at the annual meeting of the Christchurch Citizens' Association on the motion of the president (Mr H. D. Acland). Both Mr Acland and ttie chairman (Mr A. S. Taylor) emphasised Mr Flesher's many excellent qualities as a public man. Since the inclusion of the Tai Tapu area in the Springs-Ellesmere Electric Power Board's territory, Mr E. H. Rowell, the member of the Board representing Springs county, has resigned his seat. At a meeting on Thursday night between the Springs and Halswell County Councils, he was reelected representative of the Springs county and that part of the Halswell county comprising the new area, for the remainder of the present Board's term.
